Showerdome’s – they work! The misconception is the dome turns your shower into a sauna – however this is not the case. There is approx. 2 cubic meters of cool air in your shower cubicle, and when the warm water is turned on, this condenses and will seek out the coldest surface – being the glass, to stick to. Beyond that – no further condensation or steam is created. When you have a Showerdome installed, you create a warmer shower enclosure for you and your family to shower in, this is particularly beneficial for the elderly (especially when sitting).
By keeping the cool air in your bathroom separate from the warm moist air that your shower creates – no further steam is created, which means no excess moisture in your bathroom itself. Benefits include eliminating wet and damp walls, a reduction in your water bill due to creating a warmer enclosure, reducing the heat of the water and shortening shower lengths.
How hard are they to install? They can be fitted and installed onto your shower in under 1 hour.
Can GSI install the dome when the shower is being installed? In short no. The shower walls need time to set – at least 24 hours. We would return to install the dome after 24 hours has passed.
How do I clean the dome? Showerdome advises that you crack the shower door open when you exit the bathroom after showering, as this allows air to flow through and dry the cubicle. The dome itself can be cleaned with warm soapy water during your annual spring clean, polishing with a product similar to Pledge, which has anti-static properties that help to repel the dust.
We recommend Showerdome to everyone but especially those who have a small bathroom or ensuites, where poor ventilation is in bathrooms and rental properties.
